DENTAL ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Apply non-aerosol and non-caustic topical agents.- Maintain cleanliness of treatment rooms, lab and sterilizing area. Clean and flush vacuum traps as well as lubricate hand pieces.
• Restock all treatment rooms and other clinical support area.- Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models. Pour and trim study models.
• Remove post extraction and periodontal dressings. Place and remove rubber dams.
• Take, process and mount x-rays.
• Assist in the administration of nitrous oxide.
• Assist the doctor by passing instruments, aspirating intraoral fluids, mixing materials and medicaments.
• Record treatment rendered in the patient's chart and charge out all procedures.
• Decontaminate all treatment rooms and sterilize all instruments after each patient appointment.
• Clean sharp instruments and handles hazardous chemicals in a safe manner.
• Change all chemical solutions, i.e., disinfectant soaks and sprays, sterilant, ultrasonic, presoak and x-ray processing.

Requirements: Must have a current dental X-ray license and CPR certificate. Commitment to quality patient care and enjoy education patients on dental health. Effective communication skills; demonstrates professional and courteous demeanor with patients.
